CURRENT INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PROGRAMS
1.FP7: The Seventh Framework Program for Research and Technological Development (FP7) is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe. Running from 2007-2013, FP7 is also designed to respond to Europe's employment needs, competitiveness and quality of life. The program budget is €50.5B, 9B of which is dedicated to ICT. The broad objectives of FP7 have been grouped into four categories:

Cooperation: Support will be given to the whole range of research activities carried out in trans-national cooperation, from collaborative projects and networks to the coordination of national research programs. International cooperation between the EU and third countries is an integral part of this action.

Ideas: Enhance the dynamism, creativity and excellence at the frontier of knowledge in all scientific and technological fields, including engineering, socio-economic sciences and the humanities.

People: Quantitative and qualitative strengthening of human resources in research and technology
- Capacities: Support research infrastructures, research for the benefit of SMEs.

2. ITEA2: The Information Technology for European Advancement (ITEA2) stimulates and coordinates industry-driven, pre-competitive R&D by bringing together partners from industry, universities and research institutes in strategic projects. It also provides the link between funding, technology and software engineering skills.
ITEA2 is defined as a two-phase program, with four project calls in each phase. Duration of projects is three years maximum.

3.ENPI: The multilateral cross-border cooperation "Mediterranean Sea Basin Program" is part of the new European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and of its financing instrument (European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument - ENPI) for the 2007-2013 period: it aims at reinforcing cooperation between the European Union (EU) and partner countries regions in the following areas:

Promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance.
The ENPI CBC "Mediterranean Sea Basin" Program has a budget of € 173 million, coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Heading 4 – “EU as global partner” - of the EU budget. Projects can be funded up to a maximum of 90% while partners have to provide a minimum of 10% co-financing.
